Protecting South Florida’s Businesses, Families, and Futures

More Than Just a Lawyer—Your Strategic Partner

When you run a business or care for a family, you aren’t looking for a stack of legal documents. You are looking for a plan that works when it matters most.

I founded The Kogan Firm, P.A. with a simple belief: Legal counsel should be accessible, proactive, and compassionate.

Whether you are an entrepreneur scaling your company, a parent looking to secure your children’s future, or a family member navigating the loss of a loved one, my goal is to provide you with clarity. I bridge the gap between complex legal issues and real-world application, ensuring that what you have built is protected and your family is cared for.

The Full Lifecycle: Business, Planning, and Probate

Uniquely, my practice covers the full spectrum of wealth and legacy: Business Law, Estate Planning, and Probate.

This combination makes me a better advisor. Because I handle Probate cases in the courtroom, I know exactly where estate plans tend to fail. I use that experience to draft stronger, more durable plans for my clients.

With a background in Risk Management, I understand how to structure a business and an estate not just for growth, but for protection—ensuring that your hard work benefits the people you love, rather than getting tied up in litigation or tax disputes.

I help clients who are:

  • Building: Entrepreneurs and startups establishing new ventures who need solid foundational contracts and entity structures.
  • Protecting: Families who need Wills, Trusts, and Powers of Attorney to prepare for the unexpected.
  • Navigating (Probate): Families who have lost a loved one and need a steady hand to guide them through the complex court process of asset distribution.

What to Expect When We Meet

I believe the traditional law firm model is broken. It is often too impersonal, too expensive, and too intimidating—especially when dealing with the stress of a business dispute or the grief of a death in the family.

My approach is different. When you step into my office (or log onto a Zoom call), you can expect:

  1. Plain English: No legalese. I explain concepts in terms that make sense to you.
  2. Holistic Strategy: I look at the full picture of your assets and family dynamics, not just the isolated issue you came in for.
  3. A Long-Term Relationship: Life changes. Your business grows, laws shift, and families expand. I view myself as a lifelong advisor, here to help you adjust your plan as your life evolves.

Professional Credentials

While my focus is on relationships, my advice is grounded in rigorous legal training and experience.

  • Juris Doctor: Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad College of Law
  • Undergraduate: Florida State University (B.S. in Business, Risk Management/Insurance)
  • Bar Admissions: Florida; U.S. District Court (Middle & Southern Districts of Florida)
  • Languages Spoken: English and Russian

Outside the Office

To be a good advisor, I believe you have to be a part of the community you serve. I grew up here in South Florida and am proud to raise my own family in this community.

When I am not in court or drafting trusts, you can usually find me on the sidelines. I have spent the last 15 years coaching my son’s and daughter’s soccer teams. I’m also an avid sports fan, enjoying everything from basketball and football to golf and volleyball.

I currently live in Broward with my wife, Rachel, and our two children, Emily and Adam.
